10 Kid-Friendly Verses to Memorize This Summer (Plus a Free Printable)

Do you want to help your children treasure God's word? Start this summer with these Bible verses that are great for even young kiddos to memorize! Psst... There's also a free printable!

I’ve never made summer goals before, but since we’re adding FOUR new children to our home (because we’re adopting from foster care), I decided I needed some.

Three of my goals:

  1. Establishing morning chore time.
  2. Exploring more of our city in “staycations.”
    and . . .
  3. Memorizing Scriptures with my kids.

Chores are necessary and staycations are fun, but by far hiding God’s Word in our hearts will be the most important thing we do this summer. If you’d like to join me, here is a list of 10 kid-friendly verses to memorize!

If you have younger kids memorize the BOLD words alone. (All Scriptures are in NLT.)

Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. —James 1:17

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. —Proverbs 3:5

For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” —Romans 10:13

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. —Isaiah 41:10

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. —1 Corinthians 10:31

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. —Philippians 4:13

This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. —Psalm 118:24

Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. —Ephesians 4:32

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. —Romans 3:23

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. —Colossians 3:2

This summer may your family build wonderful memories, and may the best ones be memorizing Scripture together! Click on the below image for a FREE printable to help you out as you memorize Scripture as a family!

  1. This is wonderful! My 3-year-old has memory verses in Sunday School, but I’ve never been good at reinforcing them (I’m praying God will help me with discipline). I love that all of these are applicable to everyone (as all the Word is) and that they are broken up in a way that will be easier for her to remember. Thank you so much!

  2. Love the verse memorizing idea. Would also add Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. This verse helps me to know that I have a path to follow in God’s way. Also to know things will happen in His time and not mine.
