How to Turn a Bad Day into a Par-tay!

How can you turn an awful day into one of delight? We can enter into the victory of Christ and welcome his joy on even the most difficult of days. Let's learn to celebrate in Him for our families!I don’t know how you woke up this morning, but I rolled over with a groan and pulled the covers over my head.

“I can’t do this,” I thought to myself. “I need more sleep.” But because work keeps piling high and the sun was already peaking over the horizon, I swung my feet to the floor with the prayer, “Lord, be my strength today, because I have none.”

And as I walked over to my Bible in a zombie-like state, I repeated that prayer like a mantra until I read these verses:

“The Lord is my strength and my song; He has given me victory. Songs of joy and victory are sung in the camp of the godly; the strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things!” Psalm 118:14-15

Even the worst day can become a celebration because God guarantees victories to those who rely on Him. We can either ignore those victories and continue living in defeat, or we can celebrate those victories (no matter how small) with loud voices and shouts of praise. The choice is ours.

Sometimes we’re afraid to share the victories that come from God. We’re afraid to say, “Here’s the really hard situation I was in, and here’s how God gave me victory.” We’re afraid to share the raw and real stuff because we don’t want to sound like we’re bragging when it turns out good. But God’s victories are always rescues, Him swooping in and doing what we cannot do. So instead of drawing attention to ourselves, we can shout out our weakness and His strength.

As Paul puts it,

[The Lord] said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

Why should we steal God’s glory by keeping silent? Let us learn to boast about our weaknesses.

If we want to experience a victorious life, filled with Christ’s power, we need to recognize and celebrate the victories God gives us every day, shouting out His strength in our weaknesses.

Here’s how:

  • Got out of bed when you’d rather have slept in? Shout out your weakness and His strength!
  • Kept your calm when you were about to yell? Shout out your weakness and His strength!
  • Faced an impossible project but turned to Him for help and finished it? Shout out your weakness and His strength!

Rehearse God’s victories out loud to yourself, even when no one else is listening… because God is. Share a victory with a friend at lunch today, highlighting God’s powerful intervention in the little things. Shout it out on social media, using your sphere on influence to give God praise.

This doesn’t have to be awkward or weird. It doesn’t have to sound all “testimony” or Christianese. Just in your own words, tell of God’s great victories in the little things. And share His victories day after day, you’ll soon find yourself living a powerful life, because you’re rehearsing His power in your life.

Comment below with one way that God gave you victory in the midst of your defeat. It can be great or small, but start shouting God’s praise here and now.

I’ll start: I didn’t sleep much last night, but God helped me wake up anyway and filled me with joy and power as He led me to these verses in Psalm 118:14-15. He is faithful!

What victory will you praise God for right now? Share with us in the comments and lets celebrate together!

Blessings,

Asheritah Ciuciu

  1. Anytime I feel terrible, I ask god “Show me the way, show me what I don’t see” and I go to sleep or do my daily routine. I just forget and wait for his answer without hurry, without begging, without crying. Just calm.. Believing that the answer will come. Sometimes same day, sometimes next day something miracle happens and I see it. He is always with us but we are sometimes blind. Thats all. I loved your recommendations too xx

  2. I’m struggling on not letting my circumstances dictate how I should feel when dealing with pregnancy symptoms. They are overwhelming and I’m left with no energy and as if that wasn’t enough I’m at risk for a miscarriage so I’ve been doing a lot of nothing, just laying down day after day {going on four weeks straight}, I’m frustrated, always hungry which I hate, and hesitant to use the restroom, worrying that it could result in coming across a depressing sight. However, I do try to keep faith and stay positive because really, what other choice do I have … it doesn’t stop me from feeling overwhelmed though. And yes, miracles do happen. I’m holding on to that.

  3. Where would I be without grace? A new mercy I see everyday, every way. Some many untimely mishaps, interruptions, let me look to the hills which cometh my help..Psalm 121King James Version (KJV)

121 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. I must keep this in the forefront of my mind and heart, for troubles will come and I need an anchor, the only anchor. some many miracles, so many I can share. my home that it took also a year to reside in, I had actually gave up and took something else and God had something greater for me . I had to lose my deposit on my first choice but I have no regrets. during surgery they gave me too much anesthesia and couldn’t wake me, but God did. on my job for 10 years and not being paid my worth but new comers were, I held my peace and God laid it on the department head to bless me in retro, hallelujah. These are just some of the great blessing I see from the Master and I am grateful.

    With Grace,
