Fruit Bowl Tisane {herbal infusion}

FruitBowlTisaneFTF

I love tea! There is a simplistic beauty to savoring a cup of fresh brewed tea. In fact, I start and end most days with a few minutes of quiet time over a cup of tea.

As special as those moments are, I find even more joy when I share tea with my girls. There are a few that will say no when I offer. My 10-year-old always runs to get cups for everyone before they even answer. Fancy “tea times” are always fun, but our favorite times are when we decide spur of the moment to spread a few blankets on the grass on a sunny day. We fill up a couple of pots with our favorite tea of the month and grab whatever goodies may be lying around. Then, we head out to cherish the simple joys found in the moment!

We lounge around under fluffy Baja California clouds and enjoy being together, chatting, laughing and playing. Tea is shared and memories that are treasured for years are revisited.

Last year, I wrote an e-book entitled Steeped-Simple Nourishing Teas and Treats where I share my love for tea, healthier treats and spending time together. It is certain to inspire your next tea party or add new recipes to your menu plans!

For a sneak peek of recipes in the book check out these three that I shared with my readers on my blog: Coconut Chai Muffins, Lemon Earl Grey Sorbet and Soothing Lemon Tisane. These are a few examples of the recipes shared in Steeped.

I’m always creating new tea and tisane (herbal infusion) blends. This fruit tisane is sure to please even the most picky tea drinkers. It is full of tasty herbs and dried fruits that blend together to create a sweet and light drink. It received a 100% hands down approval from all my girls. While it can be drunk hot, we have found that we like it best warm, or over ice.

Fruit Bowl Tisane

1/4 cup honeybush or rooibos
1/4 cup chopped dried apple slices
1/4 cup dried blueberries
1 vanilla bean, chopped
1 TBS star anise crushed
1 TBS dried hibiscus flower, broken into small pieces

1. Mix all the ingredients in a medium-sized bowl. Transfer the tisane to a glass jar with a lid.

2. Use 1 teaspoon of the mix per person, place in a tea spoon, tea strainer or small muslin bag. Cover with 8 ounces of boiling water per serving. Let steep for 5 minutes.

3. Strain and compost/toss/munch on the spent tisane blend. Sweeten the tisane if desired with a few drops of stevia or a touch or raw honey.

Enjoy with your kids and savor the moment!

Blessings,

Katie Mae of Nourishing Simplicity
